The Tree Of Liberty Must Be Refreshed From Time To Time With The Blood Of People Who Misattribute Quotes To Thomas Jefferson
Saw the following bumper sticker on a PT Cruiser driving in front of me on 10th street today:The quote sounded fishy to me: too contemporary in cadence to be Jefferson, and addressing concepts ("big" vs. "small" government) that were quite alien to the 18th century.

Looking it up today, I found that the quote actually came from Gerald Ford, speaking to a joint session of Congress in August 1974.

Interestingly, the quote has also been misattributed to Goldwater and Reagan; Ford apparently doesn't have enough conservative cred to get any bumper sticker action from the wingnuts.

This photo gallery of Tea Party signage didn't convince me that health care reform is a bad idea, but it certainly made me worry about the health of our public school system.
